It puts weight to our assumptions when we see Apple announcing HealthKit app at its annual WWDC event. This app is a one-stop shop that tracks all of your health data in order to keep you fit. Obviously, Apple will have to rely on a device that does this job. So, Apple iWatch is supposed to be the one which will be doing that stuff.

According to a veritable source, Apple will announce its long-awaited iWatch along with its next-generation iPhone in the fall of this year. It further says, Apple will introduce a curve-shaped OLED iWatch that’ll be used to track health data.

Apple Makes a New Move for Home Automation with HomeKit

| June 3, 2014 | 0 Comments

Apple's new HomeKit

We have been hearing different reports saying Apple is planning to announce a new Smart Home experience at its annual WWDC event. So, Apple approves them by announcing Homekit, its first move for home automation at its Worldwide Developers Conference.

Now, users can interact with the things at their homes with the help of iOS devices. Your entire home now can be controlled remotely using your iPhone or iPad. For instance, users can control their door locks, grarage doors, webcams, lights and thermostats using HomeKit app in iOS 8.

HomeKit, a new app

Once you got all of your home devices integrated with HomeKit, you can create different scenes like when you’re dozing and want to fall asleep, you just need to say ‘Go to bed’ to Siri. Then your iPhone will take the responsibility making sure all the doors and lights are turned off. You can also customize the lights and other devices which you think shouldn’t be working while you’re having sleep.

‘There are a lot of great home automation devices coming on the market these days,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s SVP of software engineering, said during the keynote event. “And they all have apps.”

Apple also mentioned the names of device manufacturers with whom this system will be working. Among them there’re some big names including Schlage, Haier and Philips. Let me tell you one thing, any device can go with Homekit if it is MFi certified meaning it contains a wireless chip that can be communicated over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or ZigBee. But, Apple didn’t specify any communication protocol in the event.

Apple Homekit's partners

Overall, it’s a good move of Apple for the home automation as its competitors like Samsung and Google have already introduced their Smart Home concepts. Unfortunately, we can’t get our hands on it until Apple finally releases iOS 8 along with a new iPhone 6 in the fall of this year.

Apple smart home technology

Apple’s annual worldwide developers conference approaching near, as we all know it’ll largely cover software developments. So, new versions of iOS and OS X could debut in the event on June 2. But, there’re some reports on the web suggesting Apple to announce its Smart Home technology at WWDC in San Francisco. If it gets true, then it would be Apple’s first move for the home automation.

Seeing its competitors like Samsung and Google, Apple may also want to step in that field. With this technology, Apple users will be able to control their home appliances, lights, doors and much more that can go well with their iOS devices. It would be like Apple’s Made for iPhone, a program in which company lets 3rd parties to produce products which are compatible with iOS devices. If there’s any reality in this news, then Apple needs to come up with the stuff that can beat its competitors.

According to a report at Financial Times, Apple recommends select manufacturing companies to develop products especially designed for its iOS devices. But, report neither names any of them nor explains the procedure how it’ll work. One thing that comes to our mind is; Apple will only bring this smart home technology to its upcoming devices.

The report may or may not be true. So we better suggest you to wait until  WWDC 2014 which is set to be held on June 2. We’ll let you know if there comes anything official from the company.

iOS 8 mobile operating system

Apple’s annual WWDC is approaching fast and the rumors are getting higher. We aren’t much far away from the June 2 that will uncover all of Apple’s plans for its operating systems, iOS and OS X. Here we’ve made a guess work of expected features of iOS 8 that’ll be the major highlights of the new mobile operating system.

Healthbook App

Healthbook App

Seeing the different reports on veritable sources, we are pretty sure about Apple Healthbook, app that tracks all the data necessary to a person who’s very health conscious. It wouldn’t be a surprise as its competitors have already come up with the health-oriented devices like Samsung Galaxy S5 that has an ability to track your heart beat. Definitely, the app won’t work itself. It’ll need another device to get data from. It is said that Apple iWatch is the device that will assist the app to work properly. The app then would be able to track calories burned, steps taken, distance travelled, blood and sugar level.

Improved Siri

Improved Siri

This time, Apple will bring more improved Siri along with iOS 8 to avoid the nuisance when it doesn’t get you exactly. There’re some reports indicating Apple to integrate Shazam into Siri, allowing the users to ask which song is playing, no need to open the Shazam app.

Split-screen Apps

That’s biggie for those who wanted to see two apps running at the same time on their iPhones. Sources close to the news suggest that users will be able to interact the different apps; drag the image from one application to another app. It’s like what we’ve seen in Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3.

Don’t take it final as Apple hasn’t confirmed anything so far. So, we better suggest you to wait until June 2 that’ll uncover everything thing.

Apple Confirmed iOS 8 Release Date – MacBook Air (Retina) Might Come Along

| May 22, 2014 | 0 Comments

Apple iOS 8 mobile operating system

According to a report at Gottabemobile, Apple has finalized the iOS 8 release date. There’re also some chances to see Apple announcing OS X 10.10. All this will happen on June 2 at Apple’s annual WWDC show. MacBook Air with Retina Display is also said to be come along.

Though, we all know that Apple’s WWDC is mainly dedicated to the software development. So, that makes some sense when we talk about iOS 8 or Mac OS X, but MacBook Air (Retina) doesn’t make any sense as we’ve seen Apple refreshing its MacBook Air lineup a few weeks ago. If there were some plans for MacBook Air (Retina), then it was the right time to unveil it. Anyhow, we can’t say 100% about Apple’s upcoming plans. We aren’t much far away from 2nd June that will tell everything.

Surely, OS X 10.10 and iOS 8 will be the starts of WWDC event. There’re lots of rumors being popped up around the tech society for both of the operating systems. The OS X 10.10 is likely to pack an iOS 7-sort-of redesign while iOS 8 won’t be much different from iOS 7 released last year. But, there’ll be a new app dubbed as Healthbook that covers health issues by tracking heartbeat, sugar level, sleep, steps and a lot more. Upgrades for Apple Maps and Siri are also supposed to come with iOS 8.

Take this post as pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed by the Apple officially so far. We better suggest you to wait until June 2. Have something to add to this story? Please share your views in the comment section given below.
